SHAPE THE IDEA BEFORE YOU SHARE IT
A useful proposal
has something to say.
Choose a reader and a question
Start with the professional audience you hope to help and one question the piece would explore. A reflection on documenting collaborative work or explaining a creative brief is easier to assess than a general offer to write about pastry. Name the scope and avoid promising to settle questions outside your actual experience.
Explain why you can contribute
Describe the first-hand context, observation or research you would bring. Distinguish your own experience from another person’s account and from a proposal that still needs investigation. A contribution does not need an inflated claim of authority; it needs a clear relationship between its subject and the material available.
Prepare sources alongside the idea
Identify the sources behind factual statements, quotations and images. Keep original links and credits attached, and ask permission where necessary. Do not send confidential production records or private client and learner information as supporting material. A general submission form is not an appropriate place for sensitive records.
